Emergency School Closure
Emergency Closure Procedure (Weather related)
Procedure for school closure in advance of the school day
If school closure is unavoidable, we will inform parents by text, email, social media and via the website at the earliest available opportunity. The three main radio stations will also be alerted (BBC Wiltshire, Greatest Hits Radio, (Salisbury) and Heart FM).
Decisions will be taken by 7am and it is important that parents understand that although conditions may improve later in the day, our decisions must be made early to ensure the correct communication and safety procedures can be followed.
We will endeavour to regularly update the school website, and where possible will send communications (where the facility exists) directly to parents. You can also check these websites for more information:

Procedure for school closure during the school day
Should an emergency arise during the day, the Head teacher has the responsibility to decide what action to take and one outcome could be closure. Guidelines from the Local Authority if this situation arose are:
- Students in Years 7 and 8 would operate the same as primary age pupils. Usually, older pupils over the age of 12 could make their own way home and be deemed responsible enough to be at home alone, however there may be individual cases where the school deem this not appropriate.
- Students in Years 9-11 could make their own way home and be deemed responsible enough to be home alone;
Please make contingency arrangements for your child/children and with your child/children should the decision be made to close the school during the day; particularly if you have a child/children in Year 7 and/or Year 8.
The arrangements should be safe and familiar to your child; and may be the family home or the home of a relative should both parents not be at home during the day. Please reinforce this arrangement with your child, particularly over the winter months.
